In this $1.9 billion dollar deal, NASC has outbid other suitors in expanding its long-term care operations. The same group of investors behind NASC, in 2004, acquired Mariner Health Care, which had 250 skilled-nursing facilities in 27 states. A year before that, the investors acquired 130 facilities in 23 states from Integrated Health Services.
